Born in NYC, Andy and his family moved to Europe in the 70’s and it was there that he found his love of hard rock and drums.
One fateful day in 1973, when living in Rome, Italy, a friend introduced him to Black sabbath and showed him his Ludwig Octa-Plus drum kit. Andy was hooked. After returning to the United States he got his first drum kit at 16 and a monster was born! At 18 he hooked up with NYC legend Nikki Buzz and played his first public show at Copperfield’s in the West Village in the summer of ’78. He thrived in the golden era of the club scene performing at all the big name clubs like Max’s Kansas City, CBGB’s and Cat Club to name a few.
In 1981 he took his kit and went to Europe to play with renown guitarist Gerard Suter and his project “Overseas”. Their second show was at the famous Montreux jazz festival which was broadcast live on TV and radio across Europe. He returned to the U.S. in ’84 but after a few failed projects he stepped away from the music scene but not the drums.
In 2017, his desire to play in a group re-ignited and he started on the path that would lead him to form The Grey in the summer of 2021. Influenced by the likes of Cozy Powell, Ainsley Dunbar and Tommy Aldridge, his heavy hitting and thunderous beats, coupled with his partner in rhythm, Steve, drive the group through their high energy set.
Andy is also a highly skilled GFX artist and video editor and is currently a Senior Editor at WWE.
He creates all the promotional material and graphics for the project. You can see samples of his varied work by clicking the link at the top left.
